heliolatry (hee-lee-OL-uh-tree) - n., worship of the sun.


As in actual religious worship, though it is also colloquially used to describe sunbathing (though I prefer to describe that as apricating). Coined in 1828 from Ancient Greek roots hēlios, sun (and as a proper name, the god of the sun) + latreia, worship.
