solfege

solfege (also solfeggio) - n., the use of the sol-fa syllables to note the tones of the scale; esp., a vocal exercise using sol-fa notes instead of text

The general term for naming notes is solmization, of which the do-re-me scale is only one. Sol and fa being notes from that same scale, from whence both these words, via French and Italian respectively. See Wiki for more.
