pompano

pompano - n., any of several varieties of marine fishes, including deep-bodied fishes of the genus Trachinotus of the Gulf of Mexico and a butterfish Peprilus simillimus of the Pacific coast of North America.

All of them so named in Spanish, from pámpano, vine or tendril, from Latin pampinus, vine tendril, apparently from the markings. Stress the first syllable, and think of love.
