labile

labile - adj., open to change, adaptable; constantly undergoing or likely to undergo change, unstable.

In Middle English, it meant forgetful, wandering, from Old French, from Latin labilis, apt to slip, from labi, to slip. More used in scientific contexts than not, which is a pity because it's so useful.
