turpitude

turpitude - n., depravity, inherent baseness or vileness; a base act.

Via French, from Latin turpitudo, from turpis, foul, base; the Online Etymological Dictionary suggests that this is perhaps originally "what one turns away from" (cf. L. trepit "he turns"). Gotta watch out for that moral turpitude.
