noosphere (NOH-uh-sfeer) - n., the sphere of human thought.
More particularly, a) the set of all interacting minds and memes and ideas, b) in the philosophy of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a sort of transhuman consciousness that arises from same, or c) the part of the biosphere that is affected by human thought and action, such as by domestication, agriculture, and so on. Coined in French as noösphère by Teilhard in 1922 and borrowed into English soon after, from Greek roots nóos, mind + sphaira, sphere.
