bleb (bleb) - n., a small bubble: (generic) a bubble in paint or glass; (medicine) a vesicle filled with a serous fluid, a blister; (cytology) an irregular bulge in the plasma membrane of a cell undergoing apoptosis; (mineralogy) a small bubble-like inclusion of one mineral within a larger mineral.

Dates from the start of the 17th century, and seems to have been an alteration of blob.
