arenicolous (ar-uh-NIK-uh-luhs) - adj., living, growing, or burrowing in sand.
Like dunegrasses. Pretty much restricted to biological uses, but I can imagine using it to describe certain kinds of beach bums. Coined in the 1850s from Latin roots Latin harēna, sand/sandy place (from which we get arena, the sandy area where gladiators competed) + -colous, inhabiting, from colere, to inhabit.
