substition

substition (SUB-sti-shun) - n., a fact that many people do not believe.

As opposed to superstition, a fiction that many people believe. Coined by the (recently late) Terry Pratchett -- different sources cite different books for its first appearance, but earliest among them so far is Jingo (1997).
