teraphim

teraphim - n. pl., images of Semitic household gods.


In the Bible, found only in the plural, but the singular would be teraph. Similar to the lars of Rome. If you read the Bible carefully, it's evident that they were given up only in the times of the later prophets, well after the settlement of Palestine or even Moses.
