anthophobia

anthophobia (an-thuh-FOH-bee-uh) - n., an abnormal fear of flowers.

Not anthrophobia, which actually isn't a word at all -- fear of people (and society) is anthropophobia. But back to this -- not a few coinage, but a 19th century one, from Greek roots anthos, flower + phobos, fear. Queen Elizabeth I of England is often cited for this, though in her case it was specifically roses that gave her the heebies.

Beware the rose
Thanks, WikiMedia!

And that's a week of A words -- next week, the usual mix-tape of unsorted lexicals.
