pteridologist
May. 29th, 2024 07:08 ampteridologist (ter-i-DOL-uh-jist) - n., someone who studies ferns.
bonus word: pteridophilist (ter-i-DOH-fil-ist) - n., someone with a(n excessive) fondness for ferns.
Speaking of fronds. (I maaaay have shifted my list around to put these together with yesterday's, but it wasn't very far.) I'm especially amused by that second, as in that it even exists, but it's rare enough very few dictionaries have it. The root of both is Ancient Greek ptéris, fern, itself a derivative of pterón, feather/wing.

Thanks, WikiMedia!
