Theme week! Yes, yes, again. I'm calling it Yiddishkeit, even though that doesn't mean words borrowed from Yiddish.


shtick - n., a characteristic attribute, talent, or trait, esp. one that draws attention; an entertainment routine or gimmick.


From Yiddish שטיק (shtik), lit. a piece, slice, from Middle High German stücke, piece, play, from the same root that gives us stock.
