riant

riant - adj., laughing, smiling, cheerful.

Not exactly common, but it ought to be -- it's such a sunny word. From French, present participle of rire, to laugh, from Latin rīdēre, to laugh.

That's lovely! Let's start popularizing it.

And according to answers.com it even comes with a variety of acceptable pronunciations!

I too like this word, and will start using it often.

I hadn't noticed the rī- one -- just the French and Anglicized versions.
