stroud - n., a coarse woolen cloth or blanket.


Another word my True Love gave me. Formerly used in trade by the British with North American Indians, named after the town in Gloucestershire where the stuff was made.

When we lived in Dorset with my husband's parents, we had a neighbor who was local gentry... she lived in a house called Great Stroud.
