grammaticaster - n., a grammatical pedant or pretender.

The sort who insist that split infinitives are incorrect, up with which we should not put. The commonest dictionary citation is by Ben Jonson, who may have coined it. The Latin suffix -aster is a perjorative indicating lesser status, most often seen in English in poetaster. See here for a long list.
