Back to one last week of Words My True Love Gave Me:
tui - n., a New Zealand honeyeater bird (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae), black with a patch of white on either side of its throat, sometimes tamed as a pet.
Pronounced TOO-ee; plural is identical. Formerly also called the parson bird, but now called exclusively by its Maori name.
(Am I the only person bemused that LJ's spellcheck doesn't recognize "Zealand"?)
