haricot1 - n., the edible pod or seed of any of several beans of the genus Phaseolus, especially the kidney bean; the common bean.
haricot2 - n., a highly seasoned mutton or lamb stew with vegetables.
Both words arrived in English around 1610. Word 2 is from French, from Old French hericot, probably from harigoter, to cut into pieces, of Germanic origin. Word 1 is also from French, from feve d'aricot by a spelling change influenced by the other haricot (which can have the beans in it), from Nahuatl ayacohtli, bean. There are several Nahuatl words in English, but this is the first one I've met that didn't arrive via Spanish.
