rugose - adj., having wrinkles; wrinkled, ridged, creased.

With the strong connotation of heavily wrinkled. Used in botany, among other domains -- though in anatomy rugate seems to be prefered. In use since the late 17th century, derived from Latin rūgōsus, wrinkled, from rūga, wrinkle. Pronounced usually ROO-gohs, but also sometimes roo-GOHS.
