adeps (AD-eps) - n., soft or liquid animal fat.
Possibly specifically of pig fat, making this specifically an almost obsolete synonym for lard. Given it seems to have come directly from Latin adeps, fat, lard, and shows up mainly in medical glossaries, I suspect it of being medical jargon that briefly escaped into the wild.
