thenar (THEE-nar) - n., the fleshy base (ball) of the thumb.


Also sometimes of the palm in general, or also the corresponding part of the foot. Borrowed in the 1660s from New Latin, palm of the hand, from Greek thénar, palm of hand or sole of foot.
