zarf (ZARF) - n., a holder, usually ornamental, for a hot coffee cup.
Used in the Middle East. Usually made of metal, may or may not have a handle -- the cup it insulates the fingers from is always handleless. Borrowed in the 1830s from Turkish, which borrowed it in turn from Arabic ẓarf, vessel, sheath.
