The former is the technical medical definition; the latter is a more fanciful interpretation of the Latin roots: bucca, lower cheek/jaw + lingua, tongue, with a glance at the language/speaking sense of lingual.
Clearly, being out sick a few days has thrown doublets week into a cocked hat -- but you can read the doublet for today's word over here.
