nugacity (noo-GAS-i-tee) - n., triviality, insignificance; something that is trivial or inconsequential, a trifle.


Slightly more uncommon than the later adjectival form, nugacious, but even that's not exactly current in the wild. Borrowed around 1590 from Late Latin nūgācitās, from Latin nūgāx, bungling, from nūgārī, to trifle, quibble. But the exact details are a nugacity.
