vaticide (VAT-uh-seyed) - n., the killing of a poet or of a prophet.
Not to be confused with logocide, the murder of words by their misuse, which is what some poets, especially poetasters, sometimes do. Most dictionaries only give the prophet definition, but poet was once a common alternate sense, as both are in the Latin root vātēs, both seer and bard.
