Where it's the term and not the condition that is obsolete -- given the number of books out there and how much effort it takes to write one, we know there are still people with this overwhelming urge. Adopted from Latin scripturiens, the present participle of scripturire, to desire to write, desiderative form of scribere, to write. (I love it when languages have desiderative forms.)
