Indian English, used throughout South Asia. In India, it's used especially when talking about units of currency, so 1,000,000,000 rupees is Rs 10 crore. From Hindi/Urdu kroṛ, from Prakrit krodi, from Sanskrit koṭi, still meaning 10,000,000, as Sanskrit had separate terms for the powers of ten all the way up to 1019.
