perdure (per-DOOR, per-DYOOR) - v., to endure for a great length of time, persist.
Endure but with the connotation of doing it forever. Both words have the root stem of the Latin dūrāre, to last (derivative of dūrus, hard), but instead of the mildly intensifying prefix en-/in-, we get the strongly intensifying prefix per-, with a sense of thoroughly/utterly. Adopted from Latin in the 14th century.
