whigmaleerie
Oct. 29th, 2014 07:44 amAm back from leave -- time to start posting regularly. Yes, I know, what an odd idea. Or one of these:
whigmaleerie (hwig-mah-LEER-ee) - (Scot.) n., a whim, crochet; an odd or fanciful contrivance, trinket, a knickknack.
First used in writing in the 1720s, earlier form figmaleerie -- for the -ma- part, note rigmarole and thingamajig.
