cannach (KAHN-nakh) - n., (Scot.) cotton grass, Eriophorum vaginatum, a perennial bogland plant with fluffy seedhead.
A leftover from my week of Scottishisms. Also called cottonsedge. Sometimes formerly used as a substitute for down in pillows. From Scots Gaelic canach, possibly akin to Middle Irish canach, sedge or Modern Irish canach, lanugo.
