cryoseism (krai-oh-SEI-zm) - n., a seismic event caused by a sudden cracking action in frozen soil or rock saturated with water then frozen.


Also called an icequake or frost quake. Water expands when it freezes, and if the expansion doesn't have a slow release eventually it will force a sudden one.
