araucaria (ar-aw-KAIR-ee-uh) - n., any of several coniferous trees of the genus Araucaria of Australasia and South America.
Including the monkey-puzzle tree, Norfolk Island pine, and bunya-bunya. There is no common vernacular name for these aside from the genus name, which is named after the Arauco province of central Chile, which means "chalky water" in Mapudungun.
