choli (CHOH-lee) - n., a short-sleeved blouse or bodice, often one exposing part of the midriff, worn with a sari or with a skirt and shawl.
A south Asian thing, especially India. The choli is tightly fitted and often low-cut in front -- designed for hot weather, in other words. So in this picture, the green piece:

From, not surprisingly, Hindi colī, from Sanskrit cola/coḍa, probably of Dravidian origin (there are cognates in Tamal, etc.).
