Theme week -- one final return of words learned from playing solo mode Words With Friends, or WTFWFW 10, with a theme of leftovers. As in, these are the last words still on my list, being swept out together. Starting with:
argali (AHR-guh-lee) - n., a wild Central-Asian mountain sheep (Ovis ammon) with long, widely spiraling horns.
On the male, at any rate. It is the largest wild sheep, even bigger than the North American bighorn sheep. It ranges from central Kazakhstan through Mongolia and across the Tibetan plateau. The name is from Mongolian arghali, where it specifically means a mountain sheep ewe. The best picture of the horns I found wasn't a photo, alas:
