mullet (MUHL-it) - n., any of several marine or freshwater, usually gray fishes of the family Mugilidae (grey mullets); any tropical and subtropical marine fish of the family Mullidae (red mullets, goatfish) with a pair of long barbels below the mouth.


Plus, of course, a hairstyle. Both types of fishes are eating fish, especially in the Mediterranean. The name is from the Latin mullus, red mullet, but is more commonly used for the other kind.
