firedrake (FAIUHR-drayk) - n., a fire-breathing dragon of Germanic mythology; a kind of firework.

And as to be expected from something Germanic, the name goes back to Old English fȳrdraca, literally compounded from fȳr, fire + draca, dragon (from Latin draco, ultimately from *dr̥k-on(t), evil-eyed monster, the *dr̥k part being to see).
