griefing (GREE-fing) - n./v.p., in online gaming, the action or an act of deliberately spoiling other players' enjoyment of a game by playing in a way that is intentionally disruptive and aggravating.
That's a copy-pasta of the OED definition, since I doubt I could summarize more eloquently. A person who does it is a griefer. To some, to qualify as griefing, the disrupter has to use aspects of gameplay in unintended as well as annoying ways, while to others, just aggroing other players (such as by killing them while supposedly in collaborative play) is enough to grief. This evolved in the late 1990s as the (so far) only verbal form of the noun grief, sadness.
