inia (in-EE-uh, IN-ee-uh) - n., any South American freshwater dolphin of genus Inia.

Between one to four species, depending on whether three are considered sunbspecies of Inia geoffrensis or separate. All of them inhabit the Amazon River and tributaries, thus leading them to being also called the Amazona river dolphin and, because of its skin color, the pink river dolphin. Also known as boto, its Portuguese name, of unknown origin. This name comes from the plural of Greek inion, a protuberance on the back of the skull near the neck, which these guys have -- not that you can tell from this picture:

inia, also boto
