cheroot or sheroot (shuh-ROOT) - n., a cigar square-cut on both ends.
Since not tapered, they're easier to make and so are cheaper, but the tobacco is exposed. Common in India and Burma/Myanmar, but I also associate it with gunfighters of the Wild West. We got the word from Portuguese charuto, cigar, from Tamil curruṭṭu, roll (of tobacco), from curi, to be spiral.
