artic - n., (Brit.) short for articulated truck/lorry.


Also short for articulated bus, but I'm most interested here in what in the U.S. is called a tractor-trailer or semi -- especially on what other regional Englishes call them (any Aussies or Indians about?). I'm not positive about this, what with it being all but unheard here in the States, but I believe pronounced with stress on the second syllable, following its source.

I have a hard time saying it with stress on the second syllable, but otherwise I do like this word.
