Surprise -- nothing astronomic here. Also sometimes spelled lactagogue, since we're more used to seeing the Greek root (galaktos, meaning milk) in that form, but this is the more common form. The suffix -agogue, meaning something that stimulates the flow of, is also from Greek (via Latin in this case) -- agÅgos, drawing off, from agein, to lead, drive.
