solferino (sol-fuh-REE-noh) - n., a vivid purplish pink or a moderate purplish red.

Take your pick as to which way to describe it. The color is of an aniline dye first developed in 1859, the year of the Battle of Solferino and so named after it. The battle took place in a town in Lombardy, Italy, and is more famous for inspiring Jean-Henri Dunant to found the International Red Cross.
