puggle (PUHG-gl) - v., to clear out or stir up by poking. n., a baby monotreme. n., a cross between a pug and a beagle.

I'm coming at this from the middle sense, since it caught my attention as being used as the name for a baby platypus. However, some authorities insist that this is incorrect usage, and strictly speaking only baby echnidas are called puggles. (There are no other monotremes than those two.) The baby name comes from the the verb, which is a dialectical frequentive form of poke, from how sometimes when Australians puggle drains, rabbit holes, et cet., they find a echnida nest (source). The breed is, in contrast, a relatively recent coinage, and while they are cute, they aren't as cute as the other puggles, so there.
