ennead (EN-ee-ad) - n., a group of nine things or beings.

A triad of traids. Can be any such group or sometimes more specifically the Heliopolis edition of the Egyptian pantheon. Borrowed around 1550 from Greek ennead-, stem of enneás, group of nine, from ennéa, nine.

And that wraps up this week of less-well-known number words -- all of which, of course, can be adapted to more than just the 5, (1)6, 7, 8, 9 of the progression. Back next week with the regular mix.
