lucifugous (lu-SIF-yu-guhs) - adj., avoiding light.

Both in the literal sense and as a poetic synonym for nocturnal. Used mainly in natural history (to describe, for example, cockroaches) but one dictionary also uses Dracula in an example. Borrowed in the 17th century from Latin lucifugus, from lux, light + fugere, to flee.
