Theme week: foodie bits.
fraise (fraiz, frez) - n., a thick pancake with slice of bacon inside it; strawberries, esp. wild strawberries; a liqueur distilled from or flavored by strawberries.
And several other meanings (including a spiky defensive fortification and a neck ruff) which we shall ignore because theme. For after all, food is your friend. In this case, it's a French friend, from the French for strawberry in the second senses, from the French for bruise (brought in during the middle ages) for the pancake.
