droke (DROHK) - (Can.) n., a valley with steeply sloping sides.

Connotations of wooded slopes. Canadian dialect, used especially in the Atlantic Maritime provinces. In use since at least the 1700s, possibly from West England dialect droke meaning small watercourse or ditch, or from a common ancestor.
