And the collection of same. Or more generally, the study of eggs, nests, and reproductive behavior. But an oologist often is specifically a collector. Note that egg collecting, especially of threatened species, is illegal in many jurisdictions. Coined in the 1820s from Greek roots oo-, from ōio-, combining form of ōión, egg + -logy.
