coriaceous (kawr-ee-AY-shuhs, kohr-ee-AY-shuhs) - adj., made of or resembling leather, leathery.

Seems to be largely botanical use these days, especially in the sense of resembling leather, but formerly sometimes used when actually leathern (and just as affected a use as leathern). Adopted in 1674 from Late Latin coriāceus, from Latin corium, leather.
