ocicat (AW-see-kat) - n., a breed of domestic cat with a spotted coat somewhat resembling that of some wild cat species; a cat of this breed.
Created in the late 1960s by crossbreeding Siamese and Abyssinian cats, with some American shorthair by mistake but accepted because it made the breed stronger and healthier. They come in a few color morphs. The name was coined as a blend of ocelot and cat, because the tawny and chocolate morph do somewhat resemble an ocelot in coloration, if not in body shape.
